Shaam, who played Vijay’s brother in Varisu, praised the TVK chief and called him ‘pure and honest’.
Days after Thalapathy Vijay’s memorable show in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, his 2023 film Varisu co-star Shaam has now claimed that he had predicted the actor-turned-politician’s victory back in 2024. In a recent interview, Shaam recalled dialling Vijay two years back and telling him, “I saw you sitting in the chief minister’s chair”.
“To be honest, I knew this way back in 2024. One morning I called him and told him ‘anna, I saw you sitting in the chief minister’s chair, and people are honouring you.’ Then recently, on May 3, I sent him a message saying my dream will come true. And let me tell you that my thoughts haven’t come overnight,” Shaam said, as quoted by Times Now.
Shaam, who played Vijay’s brother in Varisu, also recalled asking the actor if he would become big in the film industry. He further praised the TVK chief and called him ‘pure and honest’.
“Vijay anna is a man with so much conviction, and his heart is pure and honest. He always says that he has reached this position because of his fans. So, in order to give back the love, he said he wanted to do something. Once I asked him if he knew he would become this big, anna said to me, ‘I came only to act, I did not know I would win so much love,'” Shaam added.
Vijay’s Political Debut
Vijay’s political debut has received an overwhelming response. His party has emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly. However, it remains 10 seats short of the majority mark of 118. This means that in order to form a government, it is crucial for TVK to form an alliance.
While some reports suggest that TVK might join hands with the DMK, which won 59 seats, others claim that an alliance with AIADMK (47 seats) might also be possible.
Reportedly, Vijay has also written to the state governor, Rajendra Arlekar, seeking an invitation to form the government.
Several media reports also claim that Vijay is likely to take the oath as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
