Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, has firmly established himself in the latter category and his latest acquisition, the Opera Godfather Baguette “Shiva” is a 658-component mechanical theater worn on the wrist.

This pièce unique (one-of-a-kind) reimagines Jacob & Co.’s famous musical movement. At the center of the watch sits a bespoke, hand-sculpted Shiva figurine, poised within a flying triple-axis tourbillon. As the tourbillon rotates continuously to defy gravity, it creates a mesmerising dance around the deity, symbolising the eternal movement of time and the universe.

The aesthetics are equally breathtaking. The case is forged from 18K rose gold and encrusted with over 300 baguette-cut diamonds. The dial also features the sacred “Om” symbol in gold, set against a horde of shimmering pavé diamonds. What sets the Opera Godfather series apart is its auditory complexity. The watch features a built-in miniature music box system. At the press of a button, a 120-note mechanism plays the iconic theme from The Godfather. Two rotating cylinders, bristling with tiny pins, strike metallic combs to produce a crisp, haunting melody that echoes through the rose gold case.

This is not the first time Anant Ambani has worked with Jacob & Co. for a custom creation. Earlier this year, he made headlines with a bespoke watch inspired by Vantara, the family’s wildlife sanctuary. That piece featured hand-painted figurines of lions and Bengal tigers, with a miniature version of Anant himself at the center.
